Charles Astrande Obituary

Charles Kaneala Astrande, 30, passed away on November 13, 2016 at Providence Hospital in Anchorage.

Charles was born on October 31, 1986 in Hilo, Hawaii. Charles moved to Alaska in May of 1997. At the age of 19, he joined the United States Army. A career service member, Charles was honorably discharged from the military in 2014 as a Staff Sargent. Since his discharge, Charles has worked as a protective security officer for MaxSent Security Services.

Charles was a member of the Israeli Krav Maga Association and practiced regularly. He loved reading and he loved the ocean, especially diving and fishing. Family states, "Charles was a loyal, genuine soul who always put others before himself without an expected return. A loving husband, father, and son who always made sure his loved ones were taken care of and protected. He was a true friend who found joy in seeing and being a part of others' success."

Charles is survived by his wife Rousselle Astrande, daughter Kaliegha Jaielle Astrande, mother Emily Astrande, father Guy Astrande, brother Shaun Astrande, and brother Conrado Astrande all of Anchorage; grandma Henrietta Miranda and grandpa John Miranda both of Hilo, Hawaii; grandma Bernie Astrande and grandpa Guely Astrande both of Medford Oregon; and mother-in-law Susie Castaneto, father-in-law John Castaneto, sister-in-law Felisha Castaneto, and brother-in-law Jidstar Castaneto all of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a funeral mass to follow at 11:30 a.m. on December 2nd, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish; 3900 Wisconsin Street, Anchorage, AK 99517. Father Andy Bellisario will officiate the service. Pallbearers will include Ramil Sudaria, Michael Sudaria, Jidstar Castaneto, Nord Celario, Stanley Shigeishi, and Shaun Astrande. A reception at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish will take place following the mass. Charles will be laid to rest at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

I don't know Charles well enough but I do know he was a great guy and i always like this kid when i knew him a decade ago. I am sadden for his passing and also for his wife and daughter that he left behind. Along with his family and friends that loves him. He will be forever in your hearts and I hope his family finds comfort during this difficult time especially now with the holidays when we are with our families. Charles it was great to know you for the short time we knew each other. May you rest in peace and i will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. *hugs*
