Daniel King Obituary

Daniel Alan King, longtime resident of Anchorage, Alaska, died late in the evening on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, following a battle with alcohol and diabetes. He was born on May 18, 1961, in Topeka, Kan. His family moved to Barstow, Calif., in 1963, where he grew up. He is survived by his mother, Leta King; and his sisters and their families, Kathy Moon and Cindy Nirenburg ; two children in Washington; and long-time girlfriend, Zee Ann Smith of Anchorage, Alaska. Dan's greatest joys involved his children, deep sea fishing with his dad, helping customers at AAA Chevron and volunteering at the Latino Lions Club Food Bank. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, love of the outdoors and helping others. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at 6 p.m. at Skyline Foursquare Church, located at 2150 E Dowling Rd., in Anchorage, Alaska. A potluck dinner will follow in the church cafe; Dan's favorite desserts will be provided. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission, 2823 E Tudor Road, Anchorage, AK 99507.

I Just discovered that Dan passed away. He was my very best friend all through elementary - high school in Barstow, CA. I am stunned that he has passed. I am saddened that I will never see him again.

Dan, thank you for my brotherhood with you and all the memories that fill my heart, today and always.

I am shocked to see a face in the obituaries I recognize. I filled up my work van at Chevron occasionally when Daniel happened to be working. He had an unbeatable attitude and a beautiful outlook on life. On one occasion as we were chatting he shared his recent health issues with me (a stroke) and he raved about the woman in his life. He also raved about his children. I remember that I interacted with this man maybe three times and he made that much of an imprint on me! One day I was in a terrible mood and he uplifted me. I was a stranger to him, but I need to share that I remember him well & am once again reminded to cherish every moment. May he never be forgotten!

I so so so sorry for your loss!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dan was my best friend and my Teddy Bear, my sweetie; he was Onery and Wonderful! He loved good movies...his favorite was Jeremiah Johnson. He loved a good Porterhouse, spicy Stirfry, French dip, clam chowder, club sandwich, home made tamales, and his sweets...chocolate chip cookies, Milky Way, fudge brownies, and strawberry Sundays. He could make the BEST home made enchiladas, quesadillas, biscuits & gravy, and smoked salmon!!
I will miss sitting by the water with him the most...yep!!
