Danna Sanders

1951 - 2017

Danna Sanders was born in 1951 in Watsonville, Calif. She passed from this life in the early hours of Monday, Sept. 25, 2017. She moved to Alaska, in December 1956, with her parents, Dan and Mary Jane Pavich, along with brothers, Steve and Michael. Danna "felt the earth move" in the 1964 Earthquake. She graduated from West High School in 1969. Danna married Sandy Sanders in 1977. A daughter, Vanessa, was born to them in 1979. Granddaughters Malia and Campbell were the joy of her life.
Danna graduated from University of Alaska Anchorage in 1997. She worked many years in the evolving secretarial field and retired as a clerk at the Anchorage School District warehouse.
She was a very active and faithful member of the Anchorage Church of Christ. Danna learned to sign (ASL) so she could communicate with the deaf members and was very involved with them in work and play. She served as the "drink lady" at Men's Retreats, breakfasts, church pot-luck meals and events. Danna was a dedicated Bible student in reading and study.
She loved to jump in the car with Sandy and "chase Denali" to get a picture before the clouds closed in, always with a stop at Millers on the way home. Danna enjoyed photography, crocheting, reading and adult coloring books.
Danna was known as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a loving, caring sister and daughter, and a friend to all. Danna was best known as a child of God. Danna was a volunteer to rock preemie babies in the Providence NICU.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; and brother, Steve. She is survived by her husband, Sandy; daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Harley Hollingsworth; grandchildren, Malia and Campbell; brother, Michael; two nephews; and two nieces.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2017, at the Anchorage Church of Christ.
