David King Obituary
Born on Aug. 2, 1965, in Long View, Texas, to Dwayne and Carolyn King, Dave was a lifelong Alaskan and aviator. Dave began flying at age 16, and upon graduation from Bettles High School, he flew solo cross country to college in South Carolina, and later obtained his A&P from University of Alaska Anchorage. He was a talented artist who was able to purchase his first PA-20 plane at the age of 17 with the profits of his Alaskan scene artwork. Dave spent many years as owner of a boat in the Bristol Bay commercial fishing business. His talents extended to playing guitar and singing, producing a country music CD and video in Nashville. Dave was an entrepreneur at heart, purchasing and running Gulkana Air Service from 1992-1999. He then started his helicopter business near Chickaloon, where he and his father brought to fruition the dream of Kingdom Air Corps. He married his wife and soul mate Debbie in 2010. He was her hero; he was her cowboy. Together they own and operate Last Frontier Aviation Group.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn; and survived by his wife, Debbie; his stepchildren, Jay (Megan) Barnhardt, Paul (Ginny) Barnhardt, Cameron and Briana Thomas; his grandchildren, Hannah and Haley Barnhardt; his father, Dwayne (Kathy) King; his brothers, Jon (Krista) and Joel (LaReina) King; his sister, Becky (Will) Sherman; nephews, Jeremiah, Canyon, Ian King and Riley Christy; and nieces, Renee King, Aurora and Taiga Sherman.
A funeral service will be held at Wasilla Bible Church on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Dave's honor to one of the following: Kingdom Air Corps, kingdomaircorps.org; doTERRA Healing Hands, doterrahealinghands.org; or SEADOGS, www.seadogs.us.

Our son Jeremy spent a summer in Glenallen and in Bettles when Dwayne and his family started their outreach to that part of Alaska. I traveled to Bettles and became acquainted with the King family. When David trained to fly helicopters, he came to San Diego and stayed with Jeremy and his wife Maribeth for that time. We as a family have a very close relationship with the King family and are sorely grieved by this tragic loss. We know this is part of God's plan and also know He will use it to further His kingdom!

I know that there is absolutely nothing I can say that will take the heartache away from the loss, I also know those memories we have no one can take away from us. I knew Dave and Debbie when they first met and was blessed to see love grow between this very special couple. I watched as that initial attraction grew into a bond so bright everyone who knew and was around these two had no doubt how special of a connection they shared. Dave was a very skilled pilot, great musician, wonderful caring husband and great friend with a generous heart that touched so many. My heart hurts so much for his death but especially for Debbie. He and our son, Gerald had many happy times together. I did not know that David became a helicopter pilot! I still have one of his ivory pieces, an Eagle, from the early 70's.
