Gerald W. Lizer

1943 - 2015

Doctor Gerald Wayne Lizer died on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, age 72 years, in his home in Wasilla, Alaska. Right after he graduated from high school, he went into the Navy for four years. While in the service, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and after an honorable discharge from the military, he served a two year mission for his Church in the New England States Mission. On his return he went to Rex College in Rexburg, Idaho, where he met his first wife, and from there went to Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport, Iowa. His dream was to move to Alaska, so he came up in 1975, and he purchased a practice in Eagle River. He served the public in his Eagle River Chiropractic Clinic for 38 years, and he loved his patients and they in return loved him. He introduced low-level laser therapy into Alaska as part of the FDA Approval Group. In 1996, he took his motor home to the Millers Reach Fire, and he and other medical volunteers administered medical care to the firefighters. He loved traveling and researching family history. He is survived by his wife, LaDawn; and her children, Kristi and David; and Donna, his first wife, and their children, Eric, Brian (Cedar), Travis, Jody and Crystal (Adam); his siblings, Michael (Barbie) and Patricia (John) Dolge; and grandchildren, Dalton, Cooper and Haro. He was preceded in death by his son, Tyler; and his parents, Myrna and Harry Lizer. The funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at the Stake Center in Wasilla, 821 Dellwood Street, on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. Arrangements cared for by Legacy Funeral Home, Heritage Chapel.
