Ina Powers Obituary

Anchorage resident Ina (Uglowook) Powers, 62, died on April 21, 2011.

A service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Anchorage; 616 West 10th Ave. Nathan Lim will be the officiant. A potluck will follow.

Ina was born on March 11, 1949, in Gambell on Alaska's St. Lawrence Island. She enjoyed learning, knitting, berry picking, fishing, clamming, cooking, baking Native food and sewing, and was an avid crafter.

The family says:" Ina Powers was an humble and soft-spoken woman with a large heart. She adored her family and friends. She shared her love through food made by her hands. She was an incredible artist and made beauty through her booties, paintings and crafts."

Ina is survived by her son, Joseph Powers; daughters Tanya Powers and Audrey Powers; and grandchildren Kelsey Lawson and Morgayne Lawson.

Ina is preceded in death by Doris Uglowook, Harry Uglowook, Jessie Lowery and Owen Powers.

Joey- I am sorry to read of your mothers passing. I am glad that I got the opportunity, recently to talk with the both of you at ANMC.
