Jean Sawicky Obituary

Jean (Karol) Sawicky, 89, formerly of Concord, MA died Wednesday evening after a short period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Walter Sawicky who died in 1980. They were married for 35 years. Jean was born to immigrant parents, the late Katherine Poznazka Karol and Alexander Karol in NYC. Prior to moving to Concord Jean and Walter started a small business making collectible miniature doll house furniture. Jean continued the business in Concord after his death and was well known for her beautifully crafted Christmas Trees which she sold to hundreds of people around the US. Jean remained busy in Concord for 32 years with her craft, as a sales person at the Childrens Shop, and as a member of the Women's Club, Book Club and Milldam Square Association. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Pehl of Marlborough and Diane Correra of Boston, two brothers, Fred Karol of NYC and Alex Jaryneiwich of NJ, two granddaughters Katherine McCabe of Marlborough and Elizabeth McIntosh of Carlisle and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a younger sister, Blanche Kruchak. Her memorial mass was held Monday April 1, 2013 in Immaculate Conception Church in Marlborough. Burial followed in the Green Cemetery in Carlisle.
