Jennifer Jensen Obituary

Jennifer Jensen, Jen, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2016, surrounded by her loving family and the beautiful Chugach Mountains she loved so much. She was born in Indianapolis, Ind., on Sept. 30, 1966. She was raised in Beulah, Colo., a small mountain community in southern Colorado. She graduated from Pueblo South High School in 1985, and then went on to receive her bachelor's degree from CSU-Pueblo in mass communications in 1990. In 2008, Jen and her husband, Mike, actualized their dream of living in Alaska. Jen became the director of Admissions at Alaska Pacific University, then moved on to become Director of New Student Recruitment at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. Jen truly loved her job, her work family and the students she had the pleasure to assist. Jen was an avid traveler, outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed writing, reading, photography, cooking and time with her pets. She was known for her beautiful smile and her deep appreciation for all things flamingo. Jen is survived by her husband, Mike Perko; her mother, Ann Hartman; and her father, Carl (Tracy) Jensen. She was loved and is missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016, beginning at 3:30 p.m., in the Lucy Cuddy Hall on the UAA Campus. Arrangements were with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

Jennifer's family were my first friends in Pueblo and remain as inspirations in art as a way to live, transcend grief, and share humanity. Lighting many candles and hoping that your sorrow passes quickly. Barby

I was fortunate to have worked with Jen for several years. She was my boss for 3 or 4 of those. She was fun, energetic, and a delight to be around. She was creative, positive, and well respected by her peers. Her smile and attitude were infectious. I am a better person for having known her. Thank you Jennifer.
