John M. Brower

1947 - 2016

John M. Brower passed away peacefully in Bradenton, Fla., on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at the age of 69. John was born on June 8, 1947, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Charles and Barbara Brower. He graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in 1966, and began a career in flight training, management and freight services. Flying took him to Alaska in 1982, where he worked as a pilot on the North Slope in Barrow, Alaska, for several years before moving to Anchorage, Alaska. John was very dedicated in all aspects of his life and was influential to many people during his lifetime. He will be remembered by all who knew him. Preceding John in death are his brother, Steven Brower; his father, Charles Brower; and his mother, Barbara Brower. John is survived by his stepmother, Corinne Brower; his brother, Thomas Brower and his wife, Cathy; his brother, Todd Brower and his wife, Judy; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion, Christopher Wilhelm. Celebration of Life services are being planned for Park Township, Mich., and Anchorage, Alaska. Details will be available on John's Facebook page and in the Alaska Dispatch News when finalized.
