John McGee Obituary

Lifelong Alaskan John Scott McGee, 50, died Nov. 2, 2008, in an accidental fall at Big Lake.
A celebration of his life will be from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 16 at the McGee home, 4812 Sundi Drive in Anchorage.
Scott was born May 14, 1958, in Anchorage.
He loved the outdoors, his family and his friends. During his life he lived and worked as a fisherman, a heavy equipment operator and a builder in Anchorage, Homer, Soldotna and Big Lake. However, work was not the focus of his life; people and friendships defined him. He leaves a large network of friends and associates across the state. His enthusiasm for life was contagious. Despite whatever difficulties he faced it was always with a grin and a laugh. His large extended family mourn his loss.
Scott is survived by his children: daughter Brandy, son-in-law, Brian Saunders, and grandson, Rio, all of Homer; daughter, Sherry of Anchorage, Brandy and Sherry's sister, Samantha; Scott's son, Nickolas, his sister, Natasha of Wasilla; his father, Don McGee of Anchorage; sister, Kelly Jo of Anchorage; his brother, Marty and sister-in-law, Darcel, and their three children, Mathew, Alexandrea, and Emily; his cousins, Mike, Pat and Bob Rogers, and their families. Scott also leaves his friend Rusty Osborn of Big Lake.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie McGee.
His ashes will be scattered at a place of his children's choosing this summer.

Don, Marty, Kelly Jo and family.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Scott was our brother in our "Anchorage" family, the entire time that I was growing up, and I have a lot of good memories of all of us. I hope that time will ease your sorrow and give you peace.

Don, Marty, KJ and family.
Words can not express my sorrow. Scott was like my big brother, just as you are all still a part of my family. My thoughts are with you and I know there is one big card game happening with Mom and Scott now. Love you all.
