John Randall Obituary

John "Jack" Edger Randall II, 81, died June 19, 2010, at his home in Wasilla.

A celebration of life is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kevin and Carolyn Tubbs' home, 711 Randall's Way, Wasilla. For questions or directions, please call Carol Coe at 907-357-0622.

Jack was born April 15, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to John and Ruth (Lyke) Randall. He served in the Army in during the Korean conflict and this led him to Alaska. Jack lived in Cooper Landing, Juneau and Fairbanks before calling Wasilla his home.

He worked as a golf professional and retired as an outfitter.

Some hobbies he enjoyed were cross-country and downhill telemark skiing, and sailing. He was an avid golfer and greatly enjoyed time with his dog, Josie.

Jack is survived by his current wife, Mary Randall; his three sons, John E. Randall III, Tim Randall and Jim Randall; 12 grandchildren, Kim, Chris, Brian, Ryan, Jeremy, Ian, Michael, Kyle, Tara, Jeff, Robynne and Tanya; and 11 great-grandchildren, McKenna, J.W., Colby, Lyndsey, Neamiah, Teddy, Annaliya, Jackson, Alexander, Herrison and Jenn.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Randall; and his daughter, Shari Randall.

Arrangements are with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.

We are so sorry to hear aboutUncle Jack's passing. I found out today while checking online family history. My mother, his only living cousin, Barbara Hall Thatcher Williams, has been advised. She is 95 and living in Cleveland, Ohio. His book is so special that he sent to me.

Jack was a lovely man and I am glad I got to know him these last few years. He donated several boxes of his book to children in foster care and took the time to sign each one. It was always a treat to see Jack and Josie around town.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Jack. He was truly a friend. Met Jack back in 1986 in Cooperlanding. My deepest sympathy to you Mary and the boys.
