Joseph "Joe" Samuel Peterson passed away, at the young age of 31, on Sunday, July 17, 2016, in the small village of Ivanof Bay, Alaska. Joseph was born at the original Alaska Native Hospital on March 26, 1985, to Kevin Glenn Peterson and Nancy Louise Nuglene. He loved to take walks and watch the sunset. He loved taking pictures and selfies. He used to wake up early to watch political shows with his Dad. He never missed a football game, especially Seattle Seahawks games. He was always laughing and watching movies. He was our protector who sincerely loved his family and friends. He enjoyed life and always had a way of supporting those who were sad or needed to laugh. He loved playing guitar with his Dad. He is survived by his son, David Allen Short-Peterson; father, Kevin Peterson; and stepfather, Dwight Outwater; sisters, Marion Beltran, Kathleen Peterson, Glenda Peterson and Elizabeth Peterson; brothers, Anthony Nick, Kevin Peterson II and James Peterson; six nieces; eight nephews; and many close friends and family. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Elizabeth "Bette" Peterson and Joseph Peterson Sr. and Dorothy Nuglene and Murphy Nuglene; and mother, Nancy Nuglene-Outwater. A memorial service for Joseph is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016, at the Janssen's Evergreen Memorial. Afterwards there will be a Celebration of Life Potluck at 3 p.m. at Conifer Park. My bro Joe, always so thoughtful of everyone you came across, had an inner bright light that lit up a room when you'd enter. I will always remember our crazy times we shared, you were a humorous go-getter, let's try this or that because we only live once you said. Like the time you just called me up and said let's take trip to Homer sis. That was an unforgettable trip and you made an adventure of it even though you chose to stay while our ride left. Joe, my bro, always thoughtful of others, I'll never forget our crazy times Brofuss. Watching football with you, going on road trips just because, especially the Homer trip where on the way there I was about to be left on Kalifornsky Rd. And you said, "no way I ain't leaving my sister out here in the middle of nowhere, I'll stay with my Sis." I know you chose to stay back in Homer for longer after we left the next day, and you made it an adventure out of it, hiking back, took you two days and seeing black bears on the highway, you were proud to tell me that story because you knew me and bears.
