Kathleen McGee Obituary

Kathleen "Kathy" McGee passed away at her Anchorage, Alaska, home on July 1, 2015. Kathy was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, co-worker and friend. She lived in Anchorage from 1982 to 1986, and from 1992 until her death. She was a long time employee and technical support manager at Datem Systems International. Kathy grew up in Indiana. She loved to read and watch science fiction, especially Star Trek. She was a master gardener. Kathy will be remembered for her loving and caring personality. She touched and bettered many people's lives. She was also a meticulous worker and organizer, traveling all over the world to help make her company successful. Kathy will always be remembered by her husband, Ronald McGee; her mother, Elsa Jones; and by her children, Megan Erickson, Stacey McGee and Benjamin McGee. She was also a loving grandmother to four boys: Adrienne Wales, Bradley McGee, Caleb McGee and Beck Erickson. Arrangements were with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

I only met you once on a LONG ago trip to Indianapolis area when I was in college, it was fun meeting some of my 'second cousins.'

My love and prayers go out to all your family, especially to my cousin, Elsa, her mom, as it is unimaginable to lose a child to death.

My life here on earth is busy.
It's anniversaries like today that make me stop for a moment and remember all of my friends and family that have gone before me.
I miss them all.
Thank you Kathy, for helping me to slow down for a minute or two, to think.

Looking back on my comments 5 years ago I can say that I was right. I do miss Kathy. I continue to use the software that she trained me on and whenever I have a question (often), I wish that Kathy was there to help me. The staff at Datem are all wonderful people but Kathy was the first person I met there and will always be the person that I think of when I need help. Thank you for your help Kathy, I miss you.

Everything about Kathy was to be admired. Her intellect, personality, drive, strength, compassion. I didn't get to spend much time with her as she was older, but, the few times were enough to know that she is going to be missed and thought of often.

We were very saddened to hear of Kathy's recent passing...she was a remarkable, lovely lady in every way, and one of the most courageous people I personally have ever met. She (as well as Ron and her family) were an inspiration to all of us as to how to handle the most difficult of situations with grace. Our hearts, hugs and prayers go out to her loved ones- may you find comfort and peace.

Cousin Elsa, I think of you often when I think of Kathy and her family. I have heard that one of the most difficult things in life is to lose your child in death. I send you strength and love, and to your other children also, Steven, Lorie and Eric, losing a sibling is very difficult also.
Love and strength to you all.

Although she was only here for a brief moment in time, Kathy left her mark on so many that she came in contact with. Whenever she was on travel and it brought her to the Washington, DC area, she always stopped in to see Uncle Ben & Aunt Regina West and family (Mom & Dad). She always had the brightest smile and greeting for everyone and it was always a pleasure to sit down and talk with her and we enjoyed talking about travels and family. Yes, it's true, Kathy and Ron were true to the bone Trekkie's and we shared a few laughs about those times as well. She has raised a lovely family and grandchildren and left a little bit of her in all of them. We are so sorry that we never had a chance to get to Alaska and visit you all at home. She will forever be in our hearts and in our prayers.
Love to you Ron, Megan, Stacey and Ben and family.
Love,
Cousin Carmen, Larry and Monique Sledd.

Aunt Kathy!!!! To me that name means more than I can put into words, but I will try. Aunt Kathy to me was a women of class, loving kindness, inspirational, strong, caring, compassionate, a fighter & a devoted wife & mother. I love and miss you so much Aunt Kathy ! I admirer & respect the strong and graceful women that you are & I will miss you so very much, but what I do know, is that in Gods time we will meet again!!

"You are my SUNSHINE aunt Kathy" & with every beautiful ray of light that shines down on me from the sun, I will think of you every time because with every encounter we had, be it short or long, you always brightened my day!

My cousin Kathy was an inspiration -- smart, loving, supportive and a wonderful role model. She was my son's godmother, read scripture at my wedding and was a friend as well as a family member. I can only hope that I can meet the challenges in my own life with the grace and courage she demonstrated in hers.
