Kevin Buckman Obituary

Kevin Aloysius Buckman, 59 of Osage Beach, MO passed away on October 6, 2016 at the University Hospital in Columbia, MO. Kevin was born on March 6, 1957 in Hannibal, MO. Kevin lead a great life and was loved by many. He was kind hearted and never met a stranger. Kevin was a member of Jaycees in Paris, MO where you could find him racing beds all in the name of raising money for others. Everyone he encountered experienced the simple things he did that would leave a great impact. He always told his kids that "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar." Kevin married his wife, Sharilyn of 28 years on a very hot day in June in Paris, MO. Together they had three wonderful children Thomas (27), Hannah (26), and Aaron (24). While he was originally from Paris, Kevin and his family built a life in Osage Beach, MO where he worked in construction first with Cooper Construction and later with Cooper Siteworks. Kevin enjoyed snagging, cooking for friends and family, listening to talk radio, trivia, coaching his kids in sports as well as watching and attending various sporting events. Kevin passed away at University Hospital in Columbia, MO due to complications from cancer. Kevin loved his family and cherished his friends. He will leave a hole in the lives of those who knew him. Still, we rejoice in the fact that we will, someday, see him again.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents James "Bernard" and Anna Buckman, his brothers Mark and Paul Buckman, his grandparents, and his dear aunts and uncles. Kevin is survived by his wife, Sharilyn, their children Thomas Buckman, Hannah Dusing and her husband, Jonathan (JJ) Dusing, Aaron Buckman and his girlfriend Megan Battles. Also his loving in laws Dean and Peggy Jacobs. Other surviving family members include his brother John Buckman and his wife, Barb and their 4 children: Michelle, Christopher, Kimberly and Matthew, his sister Teresa Schowengerdt her husband Bob and her children Kinney and Cassie, brother Peter Buckman, and sister Mary Kay Putnam and her husband David and their children Cory and Jessie.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Hedges Funeral Home in Osage Beach, MO on Monday, October 10th from 6:30 to 7:30 pm where Al West will be officiating followed by a snack reception. A Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2 pm with a Funeral Mass starting at 2pm on Tuesday October 11th at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Paris, MO followed by the burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

I just heard of Kevin's passing only moments ago. I'm so sorry I missed the visitation and am now too late to attend the Funeral Mass. However, I offer my sincere respect and condolences to all of Kevin's family and closest friends. He was a wonderful guy and an absolute pleasure to be around. I had the great fortune to spend this last snagging season with him and will never forget the memories made with Kevin and all his "buddies" from back home. No group of people could have been more accommodating or enjoyable to spend that time with. I am forever grateful for the experiences I had and the time I shared with Kevin.
