Marcy Buch Obituary

Marcy Ann Buch, 68, Anchorage artist, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015. Her body lost the fight with ALS, but her spirit and soul will forever be alive in those she knew. Marcy enjoyed spending time with her family and three grandchildren. She was an outstanding artist who specialized in landscapes and floral in both watercolor and oil. Her overwhelmingly positive support for her friends and family define how Marcy lived her life. Born and raised in San Diego, Calif., at the young age of 24, Marcy packed up her Pinto and headed up the Alcan highway. After a short visit with Alaska relatives, she gave up the beach of southern California for the birch of Alaska's interior. Marcy met Bob at a Goldpanners Midnight Sun baseball game. After dating for a short while, Marcy became Bob's bride; the two have been married for 37 years. After moving to Anchorage from Fairbanks in 1978, Marcy worked as a graphic artist and in administration until her retirement in 2008. With her free time she enjoyed artistry, visiting family in San Diego, spending time in the outdoors, watching local sporting events, volunteering at the church, spending time with her family and soaking up the sun's rays every time she could. Those that survive her are her beloved brother and sister, Frank and Darlene; her daughter and son, Kristin and Aaron; her three grandchildren, Liv, Louis and Carter; and her adoring husband, Robert. Marcy's loving spirit, beautiful smile and contagious humor survive all that know her. Marcy, Mom, Mas, Grannie, we love you so much. Thank you so much for your fight, your spirit, your love, your absolute unwavering support, the friends you have gathered for us all to enjoy and all of the wonderful laughs. We know you will be with us forever. We love you infinity plus one! A celebration of life will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Anchorage on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at 10 a.m.
