Raphael Alurac Obituary

Born on King Island, on July 6, 1934, Raphael A. Alurac, died in Anchorage on Nov. 30, 2012, at 78 years old. He went to school at Holy Cross, King Island and Nome. He was a member of King Island, Bering Straights and Sitnasuak Native Corporation. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for the U.S. Marines in South Korea during the Korean War.

He is preceded in death by his father, Peter Alurac; mother, Teresa Alurac; brother, John P. Alurac Sr.; sisters, Angela Brown and Helen Pikonganna; Alurac nephews, Thomas, Stephen, Robert and Joseph; and niece, Martina Alurac.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Bridget A. Brush and John Brush of North Pole; niece, Rosemary and Bryan Aucremanne of Anchorage; nephews, John P. Alurac of Seattle and James Alurac of Anchorage; niece, Teresa Alurac of Spokane, Wash.; nephew, George D. Alurac Sr. of North Pole; and niece, Rebekah Barr of North Pole.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m., Mon., Dec. 17, 2012, at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St., Anchorage. Same day burial service will be at 2 p.m., at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetary, 535 E 9th Ave., in Anchorage

Raphael Alurac had two sons. Michael Alurac and Howard Alurac. Both live in California.
