Robert Johannes Obituary

Longtime Anchorage resident Robert Eugene Johannes, 76, died Dec. 10, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 5 at Amvets Post 2.
Bob was born Jan. 9, 1931, in Ashton, Iowa, to Mary and Alvin Johannes.
He entered the Navy at age 16 and served during the Korean War.
Bob later became a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
In 1950, he came to Alaska and worked at the Libby processing plant. In 1951, Bob left the processing plant to work for Foote House Moving Co. He later purchased the company and ran it with his partner, Joe Reisner.
Bob retired at age 48 and became an avid traveler with his wife, MaryAnn. They enjoyed their time in Anchorage during the summer fishing season and then were off to Las Vegas and Chandler, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, MaryAnn Clemenson Johannes.
Bob is survived by his son, Kenny Johannes of Anchorage; sisters, Marlene Clark of Chandler and Karen Johannes of Anchorage; brothers, Earl Johannes of Anchorage and Francis Johannes of Las Vegas; stepchildren, Gundar and Kathy Clemenson, and their three daughters, and Debi Sunley and her daughter. He enjoyed life with his family, including seven nieces and eight nephews.
"He will be missed by all whose life he touched," his family wrote.
Arrangements were by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary & Crematory.
