Those Who Endure
We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy. (NLT)
James 5:11 NLT
Sometimes a course in your life extends further than planned and leaves you with an empty tank. It can be exhausting even to the point of near tearful surrender. But remember what James says that you will be honored for your endurance. Keep on patiently enduring and remember to emphasize the treasures in life as those blessings will fill your empty tank.
Bobby, your tank has been filled.

Bob was one of the kindest gentlemen I have ever known. He always had a smile on his face, even with the pain of dealing with cancer. A sweetheart of a man who always looked on the bright side of life.
Although I only knew him for the past few years, as a neighbor, Bob is one of those people who will remain in my "memory bank" of great people I am priviledged to have met on this journey of life.

Bobby was my Godfather. It's been a few years since I last saw him. I have many, many great memories of my Dad (Jay Matteson) and Bobby cutting up and having a good time. It was never a dull moment with Bobby around. Rest easy Bobby, you will be missed!

Mr. Bob, you will be missed. The Mirabelli family first met you when Kaycie and Julianna were in Kindergarten together. Our families never lost touch with each other because we were always volunteering at school and bumping into each other! You always had a smile on you face and a joke to share. We will miss you and so will all the students whose lives you have touched. RIP

I'll always appreciate Bobby's kindness and openminded willingess to lend his support to a new Conductor who wanted to become an Operation Lifesaver Presenter.
Bobby was an extraordinarily skilled Locomotive Engineer and a true union brother in every sense. He left a legacy in all of those who he taught, influenced, and befriended . . . including me. He lives on in those of us who will "pay it forward."
I'll miss him, and will always treasure my memories of a unique man among unique men.

A Tribute to “Mr. Bob”
Great Bridge Middle School is blessed with a supportive community and many parents who volunteer their time and energy in the school. Robert Lassiter, who has a daughter in our building, was one of those parents. Last year, Mr. Lassiter quickly became a regular volunteer. He volunteered in the most active area of the school – the cafeteria.
Mr. Bob, as the students affectionately called him, had been active at the elementary school as well. The students knew him as a kind man, who was friendly, and around the cafeteria for his daughter's lunch, and the other two lunches as well. He was indeed a brave and caring person who loved the energy and spontaneous nature of middle school students.
Some days Mr. Bob would have candy mints which the students loved and then he was called the “Mint Man.” Any name that Mr. Lassiter was known by was a name that the students and staff members who knew him used with affection. As a volunteer in the cafeteria, he took on any task big or small and completed it with a smile. One day he even came in with some fancy new brooms because he thought they would clean better.
Since his illness, we have missed Mr. Lassiter as a volunteer, but even more as a person. His warm smile and gentle spirit is burned in our memories and hearts. The students and staff of Great Bridge Middle School extend our heartfelt condolences to his daughter and the entire family.

Robert, Eleanor, Pam, Kacey and the rest of the family: You have my sincere sympathy. I have many fond memories of Bobby over the years -- his thick drawl, the way he never complained when David Lute talked him into buying everybody's drinks, and the joy he had when with family and friends. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love you!

Let's not forget your Ladies, a charmer from day one.

When God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not be be
He put his arms around you
And whispered come to me
He didn't like what you went through
And he gave you rest
His garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best
And when we saw you sleeping
So peaceful and free from pain
We wouldn't wish you back
To suffer that again
Today we say goodbye
And as you take your final rest
That garden must be beautiful
Because you are one of the best. All my love,
Kelly Lute
