Russell "Pete" Kindred

1933 - 2015

Russell "Pete" Bronelle Kindred, 81, passed away at home in Eagle River on Nov. 19, 2015. Pete was born on Dec. 4, 1933, in Blanchard, Okla. Pete served in the military and was stationed in Alaska from June to October of 1956. He was sent to Ft. Bliss in Texas but came back to Alaska in 1961 and has been a resident ever since. Pete worked for the Central Alaska Utilities and Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility. Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow-machining, boating and many other outdoor activities. He is loved and missed by family and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at 4 p.m. at the AmVets Post #2; 855 E. 38th Avenue, Anchorage, Alaska. Family will be scattering his ashes in Prince William Sound at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org) or Hero Dogs, Inc. Pete is survived by his wife, Norma Kindred; sons, Tom and Dave Kindred; daughters, Jody Calhoun, Kris Holman and Sue Sheehan; sons-in-law, John Calhoun, Pablos Holman and Patrick Sheehan; daughters-in-law, Melissa McDermott and B. C. Kindred; sister, Louise Beeson of Cache, Okla.; brothe, Leonard Joe Kindred of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Arrangements were with Janssen's Eagle River Funeral Home.
