Shawn Reid Obituary
Shawn graduated from Robert Service High School in 2003 then attended an Auto Body trade school in Texas. After returning to Alaska he worked many years assisting in several family businesses with his father. He was a very talented individual who worked several trades from automotive repair to carpentry.
Growing up Shawn loved to spend time at the family cabin in Talkeetna. He loved the outdoors and spent free time camping, fishing, snowboarding, playing disc golf, four wheeling and snowmobiling. Throughout his life, Shawn, Travis (brother) and Roy (cousin) were virtually inseparable. During his life Shawn enjoyed many vacations with his family from the beaches of Mexico, Hawaii and Florida to the slopes of Big Sky, Whistler, and Jackson Hole. He was an extremely kind-hearted person who would help anybody in need. He had a special place in his heart for animals and his dog Murdock was his best friend.
Shawn had ups and downs in his life and was very proud to have been given the opportunity to participate in the Alaska Wellness Court Program, allowing him to make positive changes in his life. He graduated from this program in March 2011 making Shawn, his family and friends very proud of his major accomplishment.
Shawn is survived by his mother, Tina Munn, brother Travis Reid, brotherly-cousin Roy Clanton, step-father Rick Munn, step-mother Julie Reid , step-brother Travis Carbaugh, grandfather George Glassman, Aunts - Tammy Unger, Barbara and Lynda Reid, Judy Porter, Uncles - Dennis and Steve Reid, Gary and Paul Palmer and George Porter, Cousins - Hilary Porter, Brandon Palmer, Matthew and Megan Unger and Angel Reid.
Shawn was preceded in death by his father Michael Reid.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Viking Hall in Anchorage on Friday March 23rd at 6pm. Friends are invited to join his family for a celebration of Shawn's life.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial donations in Shawn Reid's name to Alaska Wellness Court.

I am so sorry about what happend with Shawn. I have spent so much time with you all as they were growing up it is like losing one of my own children. It is a cruel world sometimes for sure and a lot of young people seem to get taken from us way too early like Shawn and usually for a usless reason. I grieve with you and hope you can eventually have closure with everything that has happened and move on to enjoy your life. Keep your chin up remember I love you all and hope he is in a better place waiting for us.

Hey playa! Whats up? Never got to see yah after i left. It had been a while. I dont really know what to say but something selfish like put in a good word for me with the Boss. Idk i kinda feel like crying even though we werent close friends. Theres a few other people that are where you are if you could be friends with them too that would be cool. Today makes me realize how much i should be utilizing every minute i still have with my brothers and father, so i think i will not take so many things for granted, strive to be a good human being and help other people around me. I will always remember you... Shawn was the most caring, genuine, and loving man I ever known. He could always make me laugh. I know he cared for me and I hope that I made him happy because he really made me happy! I will always love you. I think of you and the love you had for your family all the time.
