Vincent Carey Obituary

Dave Carey, a loving father, grandfather, uncle and husband, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 15, 2018, in Anchorage, Alaska. Dave was born to Vincent and Ethel Carey in Tracy, Minn., on Feb. 7, 1942. He was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1960. He played football, basketball, baseball and ran track. He was selected first team All-State in football. He also played two years at the University of St. Thomas before being drafted by the army.
On May 7, 1966, he married the love of his life Margo Holbrook. They ventured to Alaska and soon after began a family, Jay (Maver), Sarah (Travis), Darin (Marty) and Damon (Melissa). Dave worked for his brother in the housing business, managing two mobile home courts. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in his yard and going on long drives, stopping to get ice cream along the way.
Dave was also surrounded in joy by his grandchildren, Kasila, Aiden, Dac, Caelin, Brystal and Declan. He could always be found at the basketball courts and football/soccer fields proudly watching them play. He was a member of the Arctic Vikings Club and volunteered as equipment manager for Bartlett High School's football team. Dave also volunteered at the Anchorage log cabin visitor's center and always enjoyed talking with visitors, sharing stories and jokes.
Dave's life will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, 2111 Muldoon Rd Anchorage, AK 99504, on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, with a 10 a.m. viewing and rosary. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Reception at church hall following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

I loved spending time with my Uncle Dave. He will be missed. At least we have wonderful, joyful memories. U Dave always saw to it that when my cousins came to Arizona that Wayne and I were included in the activities so we could spend time visiting with them. Love you all.

As you remember your love one, as God heals your broken hearts (Psalm 147:3), may your treasured memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength to endure.

We have had the privilege of getting to know Dave in Roadhaven Resort, Apache Junction, AZ. We will so miss Dave "holding court" on his porch. Many an hour has been spent in laughter and joke-telling, tears over the Vikings missteps, discussing bocce successes and pains, and just getting to know one another. Over the past three years, we have gotten to meet you his children and grandchildren as you have come to visit Dave. We share in your pain and loss.

We can picture Margo now saying to Dave, "Come on up here and give me a hug or sit and visit for awhile", as Dave did to us many times. Rest in peace good friend.
Your friends on Sioux.

FDave and I grew up together. We lived across the alley from each other. We played sports together, got in trouble together etc.
When we both were married the four of us traveled many places together. My wife and I made two trips to see them in Alaska.I am thankful for that. My condolences go out to the family. He will really be missed

You have my deepest sympathy in the loss of your father and grandfather. He was a good man, and a classmate/friend at Tracy High School.

Dave and I grew up two houses apart in Tracy, Minnesota. He was one year older than me, but we did a lot of things together. A few years ago, while on an Alaska vacation, Lynda and I spent several days with Dave and Margo and went salmon fishing on the Kenai River one day and deep sea fishing the next. We were also fortunate enough to spend some time with them in Arizona.
We lost not only a friend but another Minnesota Vikings fan.
