Violet Maher Buckner

BUCKNER, VIOLET MAHER, of Seattle entered eternal peace on March 13,2014. She was born in Winnipeg, Canada and came to Seattle where she worked as an usher at the Orpheum Theatre and later married and raised 3 children as a single mom. She then began a 25 year career at Woolworth's. In retirement, Violet spent winters with her family in Florida as a true "rain bird." Her family not only looked forward to her extended visits, but her homemade cookies and fudge as well. She kept active with line and ballroom dancing, swimming and long walks in Matheson Hammock Park and Fairchild Tropical Garden. She once walked 8 hot, humid miles to get a birthday card for a loved one! Violet enjoyed performances at The Grove Theatre, The Jackie Gleason Theatre and The Arsht Center. Violet was an inspiration to all who knew her that anything could be accomplished. It was that belief system and her appreciation of the arts that led her daughter, Susan to a career in the entertainment business.Violet's family was the focus of her life's work and her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Violet was predeceased by her four siblings and her grandson Michael Buckner. She is survived by her children Donal, Linda and Susan, her grand-children Donnie, Cheryl, Adam, Samantha, Keith. Great grandchildren North, Alex, Emma, Dylan. Violet was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. God bless you Vi, Rest in Peace.
