Wayne Anderson Obituary

David Dwayne "Wayne" Anderson, born on June 16, 1964, in Anchorage, Alaska, went to be with his Lord last week in Wasilla, Alaska. Wayne loved his God, his Savior Jesus Christ, his children, his family and Alaska. He graduated from Abbott Loop Christian High School and graduated from University of Alaska Anchorage with a degree in business. While in high school he excelled in cross country, track and basketball with his brother, Jim. In his senior year he participated in the Arctic Winter Games in Fairbanks, Alaska. He enjoyed mountain biking the Resurrection Pass with Jim and friends, John and Kevin Anderson, snow machining with Brian Rounds, riding four wheelers, jet skiing and tubing at Big Lake with his children, nephews and nieces, hunting at Igiugig with his father and visiting his grandparents. At age 14, he began his working career at McDonald's, later working as a crabber, set netter and ending his professional career as a top rep for several pharmaceutical companies. He was kind and tenderhearted. He had a way with people, especially seniors, making them feel important and special and listening to their stories. When he walked into a room of strangers, he left with a room full of friends. He liked hot sauce, bacon sandwiches and pink peppermint candies. His hands and heart were always warm. He is survived by Terrie Gulbranson Anderson, mother of their three children: Justine, Grant, and Vincent, all of Anchorage. He is also survived by his parents, David and Marilyn Anderson; his brother, Jim (Erika) Anderson and children, Connor, Gavin and Chase; his sister, Merrilee (Lee) Rohwer and children, Collin, Tori and Rachel, of Anchorage; and his sister Judy (Greg) Taylor and children Lyndsy, and Jordyn of Friday Harbor, Wash.; and many friends. "God be with you til we meet again." - Romans 8:38-39 Celebration of Life will be held this Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at 6 p.m. at Faith Community Church, located at 4240 Wisconsin St. in Anchorage. Wayne was a huge inspiration when I was younger and always made my stay in Alaska enjoyable. He always made me laugh and I know my Dad and I always enjoyed spending time with him. I will miss Wayne very much and wish the best to his family.

This is such a ripoff. My heart is very grieved and I am so sad for the Anderson family. I stayed with Wayne in Homer for John & Ann's wedding and we were able to keep in touch for a while thereafter. It was a nice reconnection. Many great memories of Wayne and his smile, boundless energy and unbridled enthusiasm.

I read everyone of these messages after seeing Mr. Andersons picture. I nursed in Private Practice on the Kenai Peninsula for years. When Wayne came to the office it was like a good friend visiting, professional, but so warm and enjoyable. I am sad for your loss and pain.

Dear Anderson family,
My husband and I knew Wayne from school, although we did not attend the same school, we were often competing in sports events. I saw Wayne on occasion through the years and most often at his daughters basket ball games through the ACS Jam league.
I can say I hardly ever saw him when he was not smiling.
Our deepest condolences go out to your family.
Although it is a sad time for you, I thank God we have that blessed promise from our Lord that to be absent from the Body is to be present with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that one day we will see Wayne again.

My heart aches for all of Wayne's family and friends - It is difficult to say words that will bring any comfort but I do want to say that having gone to A.L.C.S. with Wayne (he was a year ahead of me), I always looked up to him (he was so tall!). I fondly remember all the basketball games and all the 'bonding' he, Jimmy, Brian Rounds, Pat Juul and Tracy Greene did together - Typical teenage boys! HaHa When I told my parents, Larry and Judy Heape, about his passing, my dad said how much he liked Wayne and how respectful Wayne was to him and Mom. I so wish I had more comfort to give but please know y'all are in my prayers. He will be missed - Earth's lost, Heaven's gain.

Dear Anderson Families,

I was saddened to hear about Wayne's passing. I am praying that God strengthens you all during this time of loss. Your family always reminded me of happier times growing up while attending ALCC and participating in youth group functions with Merilee, Judy, Wayne & Jim.

God has a way of walking us through the difficult paths in life and helping us to see The Light (Jesus) in the process. What a blessing to know that we - who believe in Him - will all be reunited in the end. I'm so sorry that Wayne's end on earth happened so soon. Yet, I look forward to seeing him again.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Today my heart was heavy when I heard of Waynes passing and just knowing the pain your all going through first hand. Loosing a sibling is painful, heart breaking and not fair but I have learned to accept that our ways are not God's ways and we need to cherish the memories that we were given. We are not promised tomorrow. I pray God wraps his arms around all of you during this time and in the future. I will always cherish the memories I had with Wayne.

I send heart-filled condolences to Justine, Grant, Vincent, Terrie, the Anderson Family and all of the many friends whose lives have been touched by Wayne.

Having met Wayne through pharma sales, I discovered a man who was so passionate about his children & the family he and Terrie created. Wayne shared many stories of the joy his children brought to his life as well, the beautiful compliments he spoke of Terrie's amazing ability to manage the household during his frequent travel for work, in addition to her priority of placing the interests of Justine, Grant and Vincent far and above all other's.
He loved meeting people and took a genuine interest in his friendships. He gave me great and valuable perspective on life. I once told him, his perspective made me a better person. So true.
Throughout the past 9 months a noticeable, unfortunate turning point became evident.
I will forever embrace the special place in my heart where Wayne brought light. I know he touched many others in this magical way, too.
I miss you Wayne and know that you and your loving soul are healing and will flourish in Heaven. God needed your talent and has brought you home. I believe you live in our hearts forever.
Sweet Blessings.

Wayne was more than a colleague to me, he was like a big brother. He always took time to call to chat and check in to make sure I was doing well. The calls, messages or meeting always started with that huge smile and a loud "Hoppy!!!, followed by a great hug. I will miss that and my heart hurts with this sad news however, I am forever grateful that he is my friend.

David, Marilyn and family, we are so sorry for your loss. We pray for some peace for you. I so remember Wayne during his years of 'growing' first matching shoulders with me and later lording his height over my lack thereof. He always had a smile.

Dear Terrie, Justine, Grant, Vinnie, and the entire Anderson family:
My deepest sympathy goes out to you all. I am so sorry for your loss. Wayne was one of my best friends for over 16 years. We spoke almost weekly over that entire time, up until recently. He was the first person that I always wanted to see and spend time with when I traveled up north to Alaska. I will always greatly appreciate the many good conversations and terrific times that I shared with my pal Wayne. He had a huge heart and he loved his family & friends and he loved living life to the fullest. I will forever miss my former colleague and dear friend.
