Dorothy Saalman Obituary
Dorothy A. Saalman, 91, of Liberty Township, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born July 3, 1934, in Seneca County, Ohio, to J. Albert and Alice M. (Phillips) Kummerer. On October 24, 1953, in St. Andrew Catholic Church, she married Raymond Saalman, and they were married for 71 years and 361 days.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Saalman of Liberty Township; sons, Kevin (Lorraine) Saalman and Donnie (Andrea) Saalman, both of Tiffin and Kerry (Marybess Hunter) Saalman of Kansas, Ohio; daughters, Cindy (Rick) Brickner of Fostoria, Penny (Mitch Jacobs) Theis of New Riegel and Nancy (Barry) Hull of Linden, Michigan; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Cletus Kummerer, Merle Kummerer and Donald Kummer; sister, Mary S. Brickner; and son-in-law, David Theis.
Dorothy was a 1952 graduate of Jackson Liberty High School. For 28 years, she served as secretary at Ballreich Furniture in Fostoria and worked as a seamstress. She was a member of All Saints Parish, a former member of Young Farmer's Wives and was active in 4-H. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, reading, fishing and camping.
Her Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery.
Friends may visit with family from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
Memorial contribu-tions may be made to All Saints Parish or Bascom Joint Fire & EMS.
