James Albert Duckett, age 93, of Alcoa, Tennessee, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022.
He was born Nov. 4, 1928, in Monroe County, Tennessee, growing up in Vonore. He graduated from Vonore High School and Hiwassee College, where he enjoyed playing on the baseball team.
Having joined the U.S. Army, he served in Korea and always loved being a veteran and a patriotic American.
He loved being outdoors, whether it be fishing, golfing, gardening, beekeeping or hiking in the mountains. Also, being a great handyman, he enjoyed working on and building things.
He worked for ALCOA, Piedmont Airlines and ended his career with retirement from U.S. Air. He was an active member of Niles Ferry Baptist Church and especially loved running the sound board, along with other various positions in the church.
Mr. Duckett was a previous member of both Mary Blount and Martha Washington OES, as well as a 50-plus years member of Unitia Masonic Lodge.
Whenever time allowed, he also enjoyed playing his guitar with family and friends.
He truly lived and enjoyed all aspects of a full life, all centered around his strong Christian faith.
He is preceded in death by: his lovely wife of 63 years, Mary Doris Cannon Duckett; his father, John Theodore Duckett; and his mother, Florence Bertha Wiseman.
He is survived by: his daughter, Jan Dixon (Glen);
Son, Jeff Duckett (Kim);
Grandchildren, Chris Dixon (Kristen) with great-grandchildren, Ethne and Emmie Dixon; Jonathan Duckett (Bethany) with great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Kambree Duckett; Jared Duckett (Melissa) with great-grandson, Liam Duckett; and Jama Madore (Billy) with great-granddaughter, Merritt Madore.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and a sister-in-law.
Those who wish to pay their respects may come by McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home at 220 W. Broadway in Maryville, Tn. on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The funeral will be a private service for family.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Brookdale Assisted Living, Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veterans Home and Avalon Hospice for their loving care and support.
