Daniel John Jaeger

1956 - 2024

Daniel John Jaeger, 68, of Aitkin, formerly of Anoka and Eden Prairie, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 20th 2024 overlooking his beloved Hanging Kettle Lake after being in hospice care since April 4th 2024. He was born March 23, 1956 in Minneapolis to Francis and Joyce (Femrite) Jaeger. Daniel was a gentle spirit and a soft-spoken soul of few words. He was so full of life with a deep love for his family. Over his life he acquired two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Minnesota and spent his career as a manufacturing engineer contracting for various companies. Right out of college he spent two years as a Peace Corp volunteer in the Dominican Republic. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary in 1982. They were blessed with three children, Matthew, Katie and Eric. They settled in Anoka before moving to Eden Prairie where they lived for 20 years. They were able to purchase Mary's grandparents' lake home in 1997 where they spent weekends and holidays before moving up to Aitkin full time in 2013. Daniel became a Master Gardner sharing his love of all things, plants and gardening. He loved playing hockey and coached through Matt and Katie's hockey years. He loved fishing, whether it was on the ice or off the dock or pontoon. He leaves a hole in all of our hearts with his passing.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister Ann.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife Mary Kelly Jaeger, son Matthew and wife Kara Ann Jaeger, daughter Katie and her life partner Matt Reisenger, son Eric and the two lights of his life, granddaughters Athena Rae and Robin Rose Jaeger; siblings, Theresa (Tim) Gedig, Stephen (Kathy) Jaeger, David (Carolyn) Jaeger, Mary Catherine Jaeger, Amy Jaeger and Andrew (Kelly) Jaeger. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thank you to St Croix Hospice and their loving nurses and care aids that helped us through this very difficult time as well as all the caring nurses at Riverwood Healthcare where he spent many days before going into hospice.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, May 22nd 2024 at Quincy Hall Event Center, 1325 Quincy St NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413 from 4 P.M. - 7 P.M. with a Celebration of Life at 5 P.M..
