Dorothy Biskey Obituary

With heavy hearts we share the passing of our mother, Dorothy Biskey. During a peaceful sleep early Sunday morning, October 13, Mom joined Dad (Richard Biskey) and our many loved ones.

We, Julie DeRosier (Mike), Jeannie Croatt (Luke), John Biskey (Jill), Pam Pierce (Kurt) and Mary Lou Dunham (Tyrone) will miss her very much and are proud of her many accomplishments.

Mom was a strong advocate for family and community. She was a Guardian Ad Litem for many years. Mom & Dad were foster parents from 1966-1985. She served tirelessly on the Macville Town Board, American Legion Auxiliary, Moose-Willow Sportsman Club, Swatara Community Club and St. James Catholic Church. And as guardian of the Macville Cemetery. She was a resource and often point of truth.

In addition to the five of us, she leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren (with one more any day), her brother Jerry Pikus (Diane), brother-in-law Tom Smith and a huge extended "family."

In keeping with her wishes, there will not be a funeral. We will miss her direction and guidance as we lean in during this difficult time.

Dear Julie, Jeannie, John, Pam, Mary Lou, and all your families,

I was in Africa when I got a text telling me your mom died. My first thought was hoping that she had died peacefully and not in pain- I'm grateful that she passed in her sleep. Some things I will remember about her are her beautiful smile, her Royal Neighbors kitchen gadgets, and all she did for our community. I also remember those camping trips that were a lot more "vacation" for our dads than they were for our moms!

I pray for peace and comfort for all of you as you laugh and cry, remembering and sharing stories.

Holding you all in my heart,
