Mary Sybrandt Obituary

Mary LaVonne Gebauer Sybrandt passed away in Steamboat Springs, CO on
February 1, 2015 at the age of 77 years. Mary was born in Akron, CO
on September 14, 1937 to Louis and Velma Gebauer, and lived with her
family on a farm southwest of Akron. She attended Prairie View
country school, graduated from Akron High School, and Colorado State
University. In 1960 she married Van Sybrandt at St Joseph Catholic
Church in Akron, CO. After their marriage they lived in Johnstown, CO
until 1963 when they bought a ranch near Steamboat Springs, CO and
have lived there ever since.
Mary loved the mountains. Taking rides on the back roads was a
frequent occasion. She and Van took horseback pack trips up into the
wilderness, enjoyed going to Steamboat Lake and loved to camp. She
hunted for large game and fished along with the guys. Mary enjoyed
sitting on the deck of the house of her dreams built in the
mid-nineties overlooking their meadow while watching the wildlife.
She liked to travel.
Besides working side by side with Van on the ranch, Mary was employed
many years by the banks in Steamboat Springs.
Mary is survived by her husband, Van of 54 years, son Michael, brother
David Gebauer and wife Beverly, sisters Charlotte Kumor and husband
Leon, and Jeanette Walton. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Kay
Callahan, Lynn Hilfers and husband Steve, Ann Sobeski and husband
Jon, brothers-in-law James Sybrandt and Ray Sybrandt and many nieces
and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and father & mother-in-law,
Lloyd and Agnes Sybrandt.
Memorial services are pending.
