Cousins tend to drift away, which is sad. I just learned today of the death of Erik. I have such fond memories of our childhood. We played "Man from U.N.C.L.E." He taught me how to climb trees. We spent a summer together with Cookie and Papa in Benton, Arkansas. He let me wash out the test tubes when he was playing with his chemistry set. We walked down dusty roads, searching for valuables. We ate popcorn from the drive-in across the street, taking it back to Cookie's. We laughed, fussed, told secrets, and played. He held a special place in my heart. I will miss him.

Most of my favorite memories of childhood are from the time that we lived, in Alamogordo, across the street from the Ness family: 1960 to 1966. Eric and I spent many summer days reading comic books, playing with marbles and riding bikes. He had a great imagination and a good sense of humor to go with it. He would tease but he was never mean and he always played fair even when others didn't. So I am not surprised to learn that he was creative, talented, accomplished and well respected as an adult. He made the world a better place and the world will miss him. My thoughts are with his family and friends, who will miss him more.
