Matthew McNeile Obituary


Matthew Joseph McNeile died unexpectedly in his home on August 1, 2015 in Alamogordo, New Mexico at the age of 51.

Matt is survived by his wife Christine; and children Matthew and Madison; mother Theresa McNeile; his brother Jim (and his wife Barb) McNeile; sister Erin (and her husband Bob) Martin; brother Dan (and his wife Laurie) McNeile; sister Sheila (and her partner Laurie) McNeile; sister Bridget O'Toole and Tim O'Toole; and many nieces and nephews.

Matt is preceded in death by his father James McNeile of Elkhart, Indiana.

Matt was born on November 14, 1963 in South Bend, Indiana to James and Theresa McNeile. He graduated from Indiana University with a Master's in Public Administration. He married Christine in 1989. Matt worked for the City of Elkhart in the Parks and Recreation Department for many years. Their children Matthew and Madison were born in Elkhart, Indiana while the family lived there.

After moving to Alamogordo in 2000, Matt began working for the City of Alamogordo. He currently served as the Assistant City Manager where he accomplished many things that benefited the quality of life for the Alamogordo community.
Matt was a generous, witty, dedicated family man who loved IU Basketball, Minnesota Vikings, Coyote Hockey, and of course his beloved baseball. He was an active and dedicated member, as well as, Past President of the White Sands Rotary Club and often volunteered at many functions. He was instrumental in bringing the White Sands Pupfish Baseball team to Alamogordo.

A celebration of Matt's life is scheduled on Friday August 14, 2015 at Griggs Sports Complex Pupfish Aquarium.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the event starts at 7:05 p.m. Raul Ruiz will officiate the celebration.

Please join us for an evening of Matt's favorite things including family, friends, sports, and music. Dress code is requested to be casual and all should wear their favorite sports attire and gear in honor of Matt.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked each to write a remembrance to bring to the ceremony.
A sign up list will be at the gate for those who wish to share stories or memories during the celebration.

The McNeile family has entrusted their loved on to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
