Nettie Mae (Hobbs) Jenkins, 81, of Alamogordo, passed away, Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at her home.
She was born April 23, 1927 in French, NM to John F. and Nettie F. (Like) Hobbs. She grew up in Capitan and Ft. Stanton, NM. She married Henry Jenkins in 1944 in Roswell. They moved to Alamogordo in 1958. She was Food Services Supervisor at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center for over 30 years before retiring. She played the guitar for many years and participated in many old time fiddler's contests.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Jenkins in 1983; a brother, Calvin and sister, Marjorie.
She was the eldest of five children, two surviving sisters, Edith Malcolm and husband Jim of Capitan and Rosalee Gallimore of Newport, Wash. She was the beloved mother of seven children, Fern Teems and husband James of Albuquerque; Arthur Jenkins of Mira Loma, Calif., Dianne Smith and husband Larry of Spring Lake, NC, John Jenkins and wife Cathy of Alamogordo, Vick Jenkins and wife Kathy of Alamogordo, Ginger Herndon of Alamogordo, Odell Jenkins and Luz of Alamogordo; two stepchildren, Lawrence Jenkins and wife Roberta of Missouri and Carrie Lavinia Curnett of Las Vegas, Nev.; 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chuck Moon officiating.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.
