Paul M. Lazarski

1943 - 2008

Paul M. Lazarski, 65, of La Luz, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Lazarski was born May 24, 1943, in Chicago, Ill. to Walter and Antoinette (Makowski) Lazarski. He was an F-4 pilot in the U.S. Air Force, was a Vietnam veteran, and retired from active duty as a Major in 1985, and from the Reserves in 2003. Following his military active duty, he was a deputy with the Otero County Sheriff's Department, then a Juvenile Probation Officer, and later a counselor at La Plactia, before his retirement from the State of New Mexico.
He was a member of the V.F.W., the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1897, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 2016, and the Civil Air Patrol.
Survivors include a son Mike Lazarski and his wife Susan of La Luz; a stepson Robert Peel and his wife Kathe of Alamogordo; two grandsons, Jaden Lazarski and Skyler Horton, both of La Luz; a brother Jimmy Lazarski of Chicago; and three sisters, Kathy Lazarski of Chicago, Susan Koerber of Chicago, and Peggy Lazarski of Oregon.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday, June 18, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in La Luz, with Father Bruce Hausfeld, O.F.M. as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Light Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the Holloman Air Force Base Honor Guard. Additional honors will be provided by the Patriot Guard Riders.
Pallbearers will be John Barr, Red Yannicone, Robert Brennoan, Arthur McKinney, Larry Gray and John Wolf.
