Transito Gonzales Obituary
Alamogordo - Transito (Shorty) Gonzales, 84, peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2021 in Alamogordo, NM. He was born in Chihuahua City, Mexico on July 3, 1936 to Transito and Manuela Gonzales.
He migrated from Mexico and became an American Citizen where he raised his family of 5 girls working in Construction as a Painter until he retired to take care of his wife. Transito or Shorty, as he was known, was a happy man, he always had a joke or a funny story to tell. He always looked at the bright side of any situation. His happy and jovial nature endeared him to many and all who knew him.
Survivors include his 5 daughters, Lupe Valenzuela (Danny), Carmen Valenzuela (David), Rose (Rosario) Garner (Larry), Nellie (Manuela) Jones (John), and Amanda Stokely (Richard); grandchildren, Ysella Tellez, Daniel Valenzuela III, Steven Valenzuela, Sarah Gonzales, Anthony Valenzuela, Jonathan Jones, Jennifer Shaffer, and Christopher DeWitt II; great grandchildren, Liliana Tellez, Andrew Tellez, Madeleine Shaffer, and Colin Shaffer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Amanda Gonzales; his parents, Transito and Amanda Gonzales; brothers, Arnulfo Gonzales, Miguel Gonzales and Luciano Gonzales.
Visitation for Transito will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside service for Transito will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Due to the COVID Pandemic, occupancy at the visitation is limited to no more than 10 people at a time. Further, attendance at the graveside is limited to 10 people as well. Please practice social distancing at all times. Thank you for adhering to the Department of Health mandate.
Due to the current situation and CDC recommendations for public gatherings, there will not be a reception after the services.
Honorary pallbearers include Daniel Valenzuela III, Steven Valenzuela, Anthony Valenzuela, Jonathan Jones, Christopher DeWitt II, Andrew Tellez, and Liliana Tellez.
Transito's family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.

To my friends Carmen, Lupe, Rosario, Nellie and Amanda. I was so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I have never met a family that so loved, respected and cherished each other as Mr. and Mrs. Gonzales and each of their daughters. I remember seeing your mom and dad in the stores and when you saw one, the other was right by their side. I can only imagine the smiles on their faces as they were reunited in heaven. I wish you and your families the comfort of peace as you cherish the memories of a beautiful blessed mother and father.
