Abelino G. Benavides, affectionately known to many as "Uncle Buck" entered eternal rest March 26, 2026 in Alice, TX at the age of 52. He was born March 15, 1974 in Alice, TX to Armando S. Benavides Sr. and Yolanda Dominga Benavides. Abelino was the proud co-owner of South Texas Fencing and Trenching Services in Alice, TX for 20 years. He took great pride in his work and the life it provided for his family. He was also an avid hunter and gun and knife collector, interests that not only provided him with enjoyment but also allowed him to share his passion with his family and friends. This aspect of his life was further enriched by the peaceful evenings spent observing his deer. Family was Abelino's life; he cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Family gatherings often turned into lively events filled with storytelling and laughter. He was not only a jokester within his family but also with his friends, co-workers, and the community. He will be remembered for his heart of gold and his clever jokes and infectious laughter and smile that created an atmosphere of warmth wherever he went. Abelino leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, hard work, and the simple joys of a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Garrett Scott Everett.
Abelino is survived by his wife of 24 years, Francine Benavides of Alice; four beautiful children, Aaron Mitchel Benavides (Layla), Aryel Estevan Benavides (Meagan), Kathryn Nicole Benavides, and Abelino Benavides Jr. all of Alice; honorary son, Cyrus Leon Amador; parents, Armando S. Benavides Sr. and Yolanda Dominga Benavides; siblings, Michelle Benavides-Castro (Evelyn), Anabel Benavides (Noe Vasquez), and Armando Benavides Jr. (Marissa) all of Alice; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Florencia Everett of San Diego; sisters-in-laws and brother-in-law, Valerie Oliveira (Raul) of San Antonio, Kyle Everett (Nina) of Alice, and Amber Trevino (Angel) of San Diego; grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Anaya Rae Benavides, Easton Swae Benavides, Laylani Mae Benavides, and Aaron Alikay Benavides; nieces and nephews, Alexis Benavides, Alexandria Benavides, Armando Benavides III, Alejandro Manuel Rocha, Alisandro Vasquez, Amanda Yvette Benavides, Kason Kyle Everett, Khloe Alyse Everett all of Alice, Emery Morgan Oliveira, Avery Harper Oliveira, Kimber Grace Oliveira all of San Antonio; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026 beginning at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a holy rosary to begin at 7 p.m. that evening. On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, a funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a funeral mass beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial to follow at New Collins Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Caro Vasquez, Johnny Gonzalez, Robert Gomez, Alisandro Vasquez, Luis Galvan, Oscar Gonzalez, Matthew Benavides, Adrian Benavides, Ray Chavarria, Homer Beltran, Alfredo Benavides Jr, and Armando Benavides III.
