Berta Garcia Chapa Alice - Berta Garcia Chapa, age 56, passed away June 29, 2021, in Alice, Texas. She was born March 26, 1965, in Mathis, Texas to Aurelio Garcia Sr. and Antonia Lopez Garcia. Berta enjoyed the outdoors, you would often find her gardening and doing what she loved most, fishing. She was never without a smile and don't get me started on her cooking. If you ever bought tamales or had one of her home cooked meals you'd know. The most important thing to her was her family. She will forever be remembered for her devotion and unconditional love for her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by many. She was preceded in death by her father, Aurelio Garcia Sr.; son, Benito Chapa Jr.; sister, Martina Garcia; nephew, Tynan Chapa; and mother-in-law, Irma Chapa. She is survived by her husband, Benito Chapa Sr. of Sandia; sons, Juan "J.B" Chapa (Amanda) Kerns of Calallen, Jose "Joey" Chapa (Christina) of Sandia, and Ruben Chapa (Geraldine "Dinnie") of Alice; daughters, Sarita Cuevas (Tony) of Alice and Ana Marie Chapa (Cody Zaiontz) of Mathis; mother, Antonia Garcia of Orange Grove; brothers, Aurelio Garcia Jr. (Julia) of Victoria, David Garcia (Maria) of Orange Grove, Daniel Garcia (JoAnn) of Agua Dulce, Jose Garcia (Shelly) of Palacios, and Benito Garcia (Pat) of George West; sisters, Sue Alejandro (Mage) of Orange Grove and Mary Briones (Gerald) of San Antonio; brothers-in-law, Roel Chapa (Nanette) of Houston and Gerardo Chapa Jr. (Christe) of Houston; sister-in-law, Norma Dupree (Michael) of Houston; father-in-law, Gerardo Chapa Sr. of Houston; grandchildren, Brayden Rodriguez, Grace Kerns, Avery Benavides, Ellie Kerns, Raelynn Chapa, Rowen Chapa, Olivia Chapa, Gia Chapa, and Logan Zaiontz; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held Monday, July 5, 2021, from 5 till 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove. Burial to follow at St. John of the Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Garcia, David Garcia, Aurelio Garcia Jr, Jose Garcia, Benito Garcia, Mage Alejandro, Gerald Briones, Gerardo Chapa Jr., Roel Chapa, and Michael Dupree. Honorary pallbearer will be Brayden Rodriguez. Services will be livestreamed via Rosas Funeral Home Facebook page beginning Monday, July 5, 2021 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 10 a.m. Please like the page and you will be notified once services begin.
