BERTA GONZALEZ-RODRIGUEZ Berta Gonzalez-Rodriguez peacefully passed away on October 30, 2024, in Alice, Texas, at the age of 84. She was born September 15, 1942 in Palito Blanco, Texas to Valentin and Carmen Gonzalez. Her journey of academics began at Palito Blanco High School, where she graduated as the Valedictorian of her class. Known for her exceptional talent and passion for sports, Berta participated in various athletic activities during her high school years, with volleyball holding a special place in her heart. Berta pursued a higher education in teaching. Her teaching career began in Brownsville as a young educator and later moved to Alice to continue her teaching career and met her beloved husband, Juan Rodriguez Sr. She dedicated herself and began teaching at Nayer Elementary School. Following a long and fulfilling career in education, Berta eventually retired, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge. Apart from her professional career, she spent countless hours reading books and tending to her beloved garden. Above all, Berta will forever be remembered for the love and care she showered upon each of her children. Her affection and support created an impact on the lives she touched, leaving behind a legacy of love that will be cherished and remembered. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentin and Carmen Gonzalez; husband, Juan Rodriguez Sr.; and brother, Rodolfo Gonzalez. She is survived by her children, Juan Rodriguez Jr. (Christina Garcia) of Alice, Valentin Rodriguez (Linda) of Alice, and Carmela Rodriguez Ramos (Gabriel) of Alice; daughter-in-law, Eliana Trevino of Alice; sisters-in-law, who played a big role in her life and seen as sisters, Ana Maria Rodriguez of Alice, Rebecca Palacios of Alice, Maria Elena Rodriguez of San Antonio, Dolores Yvonne Rodriguez of San Antonio, and Guadalupe Rodriguez of Alice; grandchildren, Juan Rodriguez III, Ysella Rodriguez, Gabriel Ramos II, Feliz Marvell Ramos, Catalina Brie Ramos, Nyssa Ramos, Clarissa Flores, Alyssa Guerra, and Miranda Bernal; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held at Rosas Funeral Home Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. till 9 a.m. with a holy rosary being held 9 a.m. A funeral mass will follow and be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palito Blanco.
