Felix V. Sanchez

1934 - 2019

FREER - Felix V. Sanchez Sr. 84years of age, ended his earth Journey on March 3, 2018 at his residence, with his family at his side. His journey began on May 31, 1934 in San Diego, Texas. He was born to Vicente Villarreal Velasquez and Pablo Sanchez. His Journey with a humble beginning as a young boy he attended San Diego public school to grade level, he spent his boyhood years working, migrating and crop picking to help his older brother and sister to support the household and provide for their younger sisters. At the young age of 17 he made a short journey to Freer, where he met the love of his life and the one that would become his partner in his earth journey, Margarita Saenz Sanchez. He quickly learned and worked oilfield, he was a wildcatter during the oil boom in Freer, drilling and laboring the old fashion way with no hydraulics and technology ""separated the boys from the men"" was how he described his labor. He worked several oil companies around the Freer area. He will be remembered by many for his strong wits and fearless character. He proved himself to all by overcoming many hard obstacles life presented.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margarita Saenz Sanchez; his brother, Simon Moreno Sr. and his sister, Aurora M. Rivera; two sons in laws, Rodolfo ""Rudy"" Vasquez, and Adelfino ""Fino"" Perez and one great grandson, Timothy Allen Sanchez.

He is survived by his children, Diana S. Vasquez of Hebbronville, Texas, Gloria Perez of Freer, Texas, Irene (Adrian) Villegas of San Diego, Texas, Felix (Susan) Sanchez Jr. of Freer, Texas, Pablo (Michelle) Sanchez of Seguin, Texas and Elario ""Lalo"" Sanchez of Falfurrias, Texas; grandchildren, Father Rodolfo D. Vasquez of Corpus Christi, Texas, John Paul Vasquez of San Antonio, Texas, Celina G. Perez of Portland, Texas, Cynthia (Neal) Martin of Annaville, Texas, Rebeca Sanchez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Sara (Eddie) Balboa of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carla Sanchez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Justin Michael Sanchez of Seguin, Texas, Gabriella Covington of Freer, Texas, Anabela Rosa of Corpus Christi, Texas, Isabela (Robert) Lozano of Hebbronville, Texas, Cordero (Amanda) Sanchez of Falfurrias, Texas, and Sergio Sanchez of Falfurrias, Texas. Other survivors include his great grandchildren, Amelia Grace Covington, Cameron Myles Covington, Camila Rose Lozano, Roberto Lozano Jr., Elizabeth Rose Martin, Reana Gonzalez Balboa and Violet Lee Sanchez; four sisters, Guillerma (Ezequiel) Medina, Olivia Guerrero, Adela Espinoza and Vicenta (Reynaldo) Vidal.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 8, 2019 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at San Diego Cemetery II.

Serving as Pallbearers will be John Paul Vasquez, Justin M. Sanchez, Cordero Y. Sanchez, Sergio Sanchez, John Ruiz, Eddie Balboa, Robert Lozano and Sergio Saenz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cameron Myles Covington and Gaige Riley Leal.
