LORETTA SALINAS Obituary

LORETTA SUE SALINAS Loretta Sue Salinas made her journey home to Heaven on Saturday, June15, 2024. Sue was born in Seco, Kentucky 10/21/1941 to Luther Delbert Gish, a coal miner and his wife Minnie. They moved to Haymond, Kentucky when she was still young, but when her daddy passed away, Sue and her siblings went to live at the Masonic Home for widows and children in Louisville, Kentucky. Sue gave her heart to Jesus and was saved at a Reverend Billy Graham revival in 1957. She has been a faithful servant her entire life. Sue loved to sing and dance. She was a terrific bowler and the world's best cook, according to her friends and family. Nobody ever left her house hungry. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in her young adult years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Sue and her husband, Lou, loved to go line dancing and mingle with friends on seniors' nights out. Sue also participated in ceremonies with her husband in the Patriot Guard. Sue had a servant's heart and found her calling when she became a nurse in 1992. She found a special love of working with the elderly and Alzheimer's patients. Most recently, she was a member of West Main Baptist church. Sue faithfully read her Bible daily and prayed fiercely for her family and loved ones. She was kind, soft spoken and loved by those who knew her. Her children's friends all called her "mom". Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Delbert and Minnie Lee Gish, her brothers Delbert, and Bill, and her sister Leonore. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Louis Salinas; her daughters Patricia Alvarado and husband Mark of San Antonio, and Teresa Martinez of Colorado Springs; her step-children whom she loved as her own, Paul, Julie, Daniel and Max; her sister Judith Gish of Boca Raton, Florida; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and Masonic home siblings whom she cherished. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel with Funeral Service at 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
