Odilia R. Ruiz
Alice, TX - Odilia R. Ruiz, age 82, passed away June 5, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born November 6, 1938 in Orange Grove, Texas to Martin and Andrea Ramirez. Odilia had a love for sewing, reading, watching Hallmark movies, and gardening, but her passion was cooking. She has been in the food industry all of her life where she previously owned and operated O.B. Snackbar at the Sagewood Mall in Alice. She later went to work in the cafeteria at the St. Joseph School and finally worked in the cafeteria for the Alice Independent School District. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Andrea Ramirez; and sister, Lydia Rodriguez.
Odilia is survived by her sons, Oscar Bocanegra and Javier "Xavier" Bocanegra both of Alice; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bocanegra Dunegan of Kimball, Nebraska; brothers, Raul Ramirez of Kenedy, George Ramirez of Pennsylvania, Roger Ramirez (Sharon) of Toledo, Ohio, and Ernesto Ramirez of San Antonio; Estella Garcia of Alice; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 10 am till 11:30 a.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a holy rosary to be recited at 11:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 1 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kenedy, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Omar Cadena, Raymond Ruiz, Frankie Rivera, Ben Garcia, Rene Garcia, and Gus Rodriguez.
Services will be livestreamed via Rosas Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 11:30 am. Please like the page and you will be notified once services begin.

I am sorry that because of distance and current circumstances i cannot be there in Alice. I loved my sister and have so many fond memories. Even with having lost a leg very young she never let that stop her. I remember those early days. She was a great seamstress and certainly the best pie and tamale maker. She always loved the kitchen. May she rest in peace
