RICHARD PENA Obituary

Richard Fred "Dicky" Peña Richard Fred "Dicky" Peña, age 64, entered eternal rest August 3, 2024, in Alice, Texas surrounded by his family. He was born March 12, 1960, in Alice, Texas to Armando Roberto Peña Sr. and Delfina Alaniz Peña. For many years, he dedicated himself to his role as a hardworking and devoted salesman at Hose of South Texas. Dicky was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He often spent his Sundays barbecuing brisket and his famous ribs for his family while watching the games alongside his brothers. He enjoyed golfing, where he could spend hours laughing and joking with his friends. His occasional ventures in gambling added excitement and thrill to his leisure time. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements and interests but also for his kind heart, generous spirit, "bad" dad jokes, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. Dicky's life revolved around his family, his wife, his kids, and especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Armando Roberto Peña Sr. and Delfina Alaniz Peña; siblings, Armando Peña Jr., Alma Rosa Lichtenberger, Daniel Rene Peña, Federico Candelario Peña, and Robert "Bobby" Peña; niece, Amanda Lichtenberger; and mother-in-law, Alicia Gomez. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Dalia "Yaya" Peña of Alice; three children; Richard (Erica) Peña II of Corpus Christi, Roxanne (Michael) Escobar of Alice, and Ashleigh (Salvador) Peña-Cavazos of San Antonio; siblings; Leticia (Rick) Sauceda of Sparks, Nevada, David Peña of Alice, and Vikki (Alfredo Jr.) Peña-Garcia of Alice; father-in-law; Ruben Gomez Sr. of Alice; sisters and brothers-in-law; Tina Chapa of Alice, Cindy (Butch) Garza of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ruben (Shannon) Gomez Jr. of San Antonio, Rene (Irma) Gomez of Alice, Thelma (Joe) Gomez of Alice, and Mario (Christy) Gomez of Odessa; grandchildren, Zack Escobar, Addison Escobar, Jayde Escobar, Landon Escobar, Richard Peña III, Mila Luna Peña, Seth Rodriguez, and Diego Kroen; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A visitation will be held Friday, August 9, 2024, at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 6 p.m. with a holy rosary to begin at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. My Condolences to the Peña Family. I had no idea until I read this Saturday morning on LinkedIn. Had I known earlier, I would be there this morning to celebrate crazy Rick´s beautiful life. He´s my brother from another. Since meeting Rick in the early 90´s in this crazy Hose business, we became brothers.
First time I took him to a great lunch there in South Texas, we both talked about our families and our Dallas Cowboys. It was a true God sent relationship between us. What made it better that day, as we finished our lunch knowing we both had to get back to work, he accidentally said, well you ready to go babe, ... I didn´t know what to say! With an embarrassing look and laugh, he quickly said, sorry bro, I always say that to my wife! Every time after that one, and we´d go to lunch or dinner, I would say, well ready to go babe?? We would both laugh, and he said... never going to let that go, are you? Nope Rick, I tell it to my family and friends how we became brothers for life. R.I.P. babe
