Albert Blankenship Obituary

Albert Pat Blankenship, 81, of Adrian, Texas, died November 17, 2018.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Adrian High School Gymnasium. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Lieb Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Pat was born April 4, 1934 in Seymour, Texas to Albert and Lovesta Blankenship. He graduated from Morse High School in 1955. Attended Frank Phillips Junior College where he played basketball and baseball. Pat married Kay Warren on September 14, 1958 in Borger, TX. He earned his Bachelors and Masters Degree from West Texas State University. He worked at the Mavrick Boys Club. He started his teaching and coaching career in Masterson, TX. He moved to Adrian, TX in 1966 and was Superintendant at Adrian Independent School District for 35 years. He was a Mason and member of the Adrian's Lions Club. He was a member of the Adrian Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Davis and her husband Lynn.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Blankenship of Adrian; a daughter, Sherry Hale and husband Monty of Adrian; two sons, Pat Blankenship and wife Jeannine of Antonito, CO and David Blankenship and wife Julie of McKinney, TX; a sister, Beth Dortch and husband Tom of Morse, TX; three brothers, Sonny Blankenship and wife Jenny of Gruver, Eschol Blankenship and wife Eulalia of Spearman, and John Blankenship of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Jason, Holly, Karen, Zach, Lauren, Caitlin and Jesse; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ethan, Kaylie, Cooper and Riley; several beloved nieces and nephews.

The family asks that memorials be sent to the High Plains Children's Home.

Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Boxwell Brothers in Vega.
