Stacie Leary Obituary

Stacie Lanelle Leary, age 48, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas. She was born on December 30, 1969 in Littlefield, Texas to James Lee McDonald and Katie Nell Blackstone McDonald.

Growing up in Pampa, Texas, Stacie was an active member of both the Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ Youth Group and the Gray County 4-H program, where her passion for fashion design would flourish. Her clothing and fashion project work would win Stacie the Gold Star Award and an invitation to attend the National 4-H Congress in Chicago.

Stacie graduated from Pampa High School in 1988. She would continue her education at Texas Tech University where she would graduate Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and Merchandising. She married James Charles Leary on August 19th, 1995 in Pampa, Texas.

As a young design professional, Stacie would find success working with Mike Benet Formals in Pittsburgh, Texas. Her prom dress and formal wear designs would be featured in many national publications, including Teen, Your Prom, and Seventeen Magazine. Stacie's career path would include stops at Commonwealth Edison, Electronic Arts, First American Corporation and the J. Hilburn Clothier. Her most recent position was as a Senior Project Manager with the UT System Administration in Austin.

Stacie was blessed with a very close and loyal circle of friends. She continually put others before herself, even as she fought her own terminal disease. Eager to lend a hand and always ready with the perfect gift for any occasion, Stacie was blessed with the ability to know just what someone needed to hear to be put at ease. Her friends and family knew her as the queen of hospitality and her warm personality will be remembered most of all.

Stacie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Horace and Elizabeth McDonald of Quitaque, Texas and Harvey and Bonnie Blackstone of Enochs, Texas.

Stacie is survived by her sons, Johnathan James Leary and Eoin Elliott Leary of Austin; her parents, Lee and Katie McDonald of Lubbock; her sister Sherri George and husband Sean of St. George, Utah; her brother Kirk McDonald and his wife Krista of Fairview, Texas; and her sister Kim Roberts and husband Matt of Fredericksburg, Texas. Her nieces and nephews include Zoya, Pate, Moira, and Levi George; Kailey, Lane, Miles and Ella McDonald; and Tristan, Aubrey and Lila Roberts. Stacie is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.

Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas.

My dear friend how so sad I am to hear of your passing. We were both pregnant in 2000 when we first met. I grateful to have had you as a close friend. I have so many lovely memories of you and your boys you make everyone feel special that you are around. You are such an inspiration to me and I will miss you so much.

I miss you sweet friend. The only thing that brings some peace is that you are no longer in pain.

My prayers are with Johnny, Eoin and the McDonald family during this unbearable time. May the constant love of caring friends soften your sadness. May cherished memories bring you moments of comfort. May lasting peace surround your grieving hearts. You are all on my mine and in my heart.

My beloved Baby Momma, remember i said i'd call you that even when your boys were all grown up. I was supposed to come and see you on Dec 15, this wasnt supposed to happen to you, not now, not ever. I do find some comfort in knowing you are no longer in pain but i will miss you dearly. You were always the friend i needed but never deserved, you were that good. I will remember and cherish our friendship of over 13 years, and try to remind myself that my problems really arent that but how i could still make you laugh about my issues even in the darkest times. I love you Baby Momma, i will try to keep our favorite little Ninja going on that path and make you proud
