Minnie Mae Tilley

1924 - 2021

Minnie Mae Tilley, age 97, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021. Minnie was born June 10, 1924.
She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Minnie enjoyed crocheting doilies and sewing clothes for her grandchildren. She was a talented Beautician and retired after many successful years. Her family will miss her famous banana pudding that she made every holiday. Minnie was also known for her chicken and dumplings and her cornbread dressing. She loved the color pink, her 90th and 95th birthday celebrations were decorated all pink and white. Minnie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and great-great-great-grandmother that is already deeply missed by all who loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Evelyn Day; grandchildren, John Day and wife Melissa, and Patrick Day; 13 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-great-granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Clyde Tilley; daughter, Roylen Tilley; granddaughter, Theresa Day; sister, Willer Mae Nash; 3 brothers; and her parents, Lucky and Ada Morze.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home, Lake Charles, on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service, officiated by Dr. Michael Shamblin, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Cooper Cemetery.
