Gloria J. (Dahl) Twedt Egertson
Ames - Gloria J. (Dahl) Twedt Egertson, age 88, passed away peacefully at Northridge Village in Ames, on Friday, April 30, 2021.
Gloria was born on July 9, 1932 in Lake Mills, Iowa, to Claire and Nola (Brunsvold) Dahl and grew up on a farm near Joice, Iowa. After graduating from Waldorf College with a teaching degree, she moved to Roland, Iowa, to teach 5th grade where she met her first husband, Anley Twedt. They were married in June of 1953, and had three daughters.
Throughout the years she was a teacher, legal secretary for an Iowa Supreme Court Justice, and a travel director for a bank retirement club. In 1994, she reunited with her college sweetheart, Ken Egertson, and they married in July of 1995. Throughout their marriage, Ken and Gloria had homes in Ashby, MN, Sun Lakes, AZ, Story City, and Ames.
Gloria was a member of P.E.O., Sons of Norway, Lions Club, and Bethesda Lutheran Church. She volunteered her time, was an avid bridge player, world traveler, and loved spending time with her family and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, and step-son, Paul.
Gloria is survived by her brother, Gordon (Cheril) Dahl of Chandler, AZ; daughters, Nancy (Dana) Kever of Ames, Ann (Darin) Smith of Sheldahl, and Patricia (Kevin) Mote of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Tyler Buck, Stacia (Derek) Wilson, Zach (Nicky) Smith, Chelsea Smith, Casey Mote, and Tanner Mote; great grandchildren, Corbin, Rorik, Remington, Ellie, & Hadley; brothers-in-law, Loren (Solvay) Twedt, Duke Twedt, and many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her wonderful second family, step-daughters, Kathy (Garrett) Young, Karen Egertson, Jennifer Egertson, and Sara Egertson; step-grandchildren, Paul Kinkade, Kate Kinkade, Drew Kinkade, Ava Egertson, and Sam Young.
Mom was a beautiful person inside and out, generous and kind, full of grace.

Gloria was a teacher at Roland School and was my brother's teacher there. Later in life she and Ken were members of Bethesda and she was also a member my circle group. I enjoyed her so much. She was always so caring and a good friend who I will miss so much.
