Lawrence Chisholm Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Francis Chisholm, of Slidell, Louisiana, went to his heavenly home on August 30, 2025, at the age of 71, after fighting a courageous battle of kidney cancer for 15 years. Born on September 10, 1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to his loving parents, Michael and Mary Ellen Chisholm, Larry lived a life marked by devotion, joy, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones and community. Larry is the beloved husband of Terry Grashoff Chisholm, his high school sweetheart, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage filled with many treasured memories. Together, they raised two daughters, Kelly Chisholm Pizza (Andrew) and Courtney Ellen Chisholm, who were the light of his life. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Lucy Grace, Augustine Lawrence, Audrey Diane, Caroline Terry, and Amelia Frances Pizza, who will remember their Paw-Paw for his boundless love and the fun-filled moments they shared. He also leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his brother, Dennis Chisholm, and a host of extended family members and friends, all of whom he loved greatly. Larry was preceded in death by two siblings, Michael and Patrick Chisholm. Larry attended Saint Gabriel the Archangel Grammar School. It was there he met a group of guys who would become lifelong friends and brothers - The Lugnuts. He graduated from Brother Martin High School with the Class of '71. He always enjoyed reuniting with his Crusaders for lunches, Christmas dinners, and fun vacations. He received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law and built a successful career as an attorney, dedicating many years of service to Continental Insurance Company and CNA Insurance Company. As a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, he was an active member of the OLL Men's Club, where he found great fulfillment in organizing church fish fries and participating in various church activities. He was honored to receive the Saint Louis Medallion Award! He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus where he served the community through volunteering and developed many lasting friendships. Larry had a love of boating, sunset cruises, annual Gulf Shores and Percy Quin trips, escaping to fun get-aways, and being the life of the party. His enthusiasm for Jimmy Buffett was infectious, and he never missed an opportunity to live like "it's 5'oclock somewhere!" Larry's presence was felt at every social and service event, where his vibrant personality shone brightly. As someone who cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, you could always find him cheering them on at their football and volleyball games, plays, dance recitals, and school activities. Larry's life experiences were a testament to cherishing the moments that bring joy and meaning to our lives. He truly lived life to the fullest every day! He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Slidell. Eulogies will begin at 12:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:30 p.m. Larry will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery following services. Following the burial, a celebration of life reception will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the OLL gym - Bubbles up! Terry
Your entire family is in my thoughts and prayers. I was a law clerk for Judge Bobby Katz after Larry’s term ended. Larry trained me for two weeks and visited our Court all if the time while working with Dillion and Cambre. Larry was an excellent attorney, a mentor for me and always kept us laughing.
