Bruce Collins Obituary

Collins, Bruce 5/19/1962 - 6/23/2020 Santa Barbara, California Bruce Mitchell Collins 58 Santa Barbara, CA Tuesday Respiratory failure Bruce Mitchell Collins said his final good-byes to the world he'd always known and the family he dearly loved on 6/23/2020 at the age of 58. Bruce was born on May 19,1962 in Ann Arbor. After graduating from Huron High School, he joined the U.S. Army serving in Germany. Later, he started a career as a truck driver for U.S. Express. He loved driving and enjoyed seeing the country. Sadly for him, he had to give that up because of health reasons. He later moved to Santa Barbara, California, to be close to his son and to fulfill his dream of living near the ocean. He enjoyed the contrast between the slower-paced beach town and the hustle of the big city. Music was his constant companion and he loved playing and watching golf. Bruce was preceded in death by his youngest son, Brendan Collins, and his father, Robert Collins. He leaves behind his mother, Suzanne Collins, of Ypsilanti; his son, Shawn Collins, of Santa Barbara; his brother, William Collins (Sarah), of Saline; and his sister, Christy Krueger (Leo), of Tucson, and five nieces and nephews. The family thanks Bruce's hospice caregivers at Serenity House for their compassion and guidance during his final days. No services planned.
