Claire Schulte

On December 7, 2025, Claire (Naylor) Schulte, 63, of Ann Arbor passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a nearly three-year struggle with cancer.
She was a woman of quiet resolve, courage, faith, and boundless love. She looked for the best in others and found joy in all parts of life, especially in the harmony of her family. She was a model of selfless love that only shone brighter through her illness.
Claire was a native of Ann Arbor. She met her husband, Jerry, at the University of Michigan and was married at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish shortly after graduating. She taught elementary school and had a special love of mathematics. After giving birth to twins (the first two of four sons), she dedicated herself to nurturing her family and community. She freely gave her time to anyone in need, whether they wanted a friend to walk with, a meal prepared, or honest counsel.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jerry; their four loving children, Mark (Darragh), Matthew (Elizabeth), Steven, and Ryan; her grandchildren, Walter, Eamon, and Finn; her mother, Andrée; and her siblings, Ellen (Daniel), Joe (Karen), and Dirk (Shawn). She was preceded in death by her father, Arch Naylor, and her grandchild, Taylor Schulte.
We will miss her dearly and are heartbroken at the reality of life without her beautiful presence.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Nie Family Funeral Homes, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 530 Elizabeth Street, Ann Arbor. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 9:30 am.
