Sheats, Kenneth 5/24/1959 - 3/23/2019 Van Buren Township Kenn Sheats, age 59, long-time resident of Van Buren Township, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, March 23, 2019 after a long and very courageous battle with cancer. Kenn was born May 24, 1959 in Ann Arbor, MI, the only son of Robert & Faye (Carson) Sheats. He grew up in Saline, MI and graduated from Saline High School in 1977. Early in his career he worked in the food service industry, and 23 years ago began working at the St. Joseph Mercy Health System where he worked until his passing. He started in the emergency department and moved into a training role that allowed him to assist the employees in the facilities in Southeast Michigan to interact with patients effectively, efficiently and compassionately. He was involved in many special projects at St Joe, including participation in the work group that designed the decor, workflows and patient processes for the new Cancer Center, utilizing his experiences with his own cancer. He was an extremely creative, talented man who enjoyed decorating and gardening. He was an avid fan of Martha Stewart, Beekman 1802, and Chip and Joanna Gaines. His home reflects his warm and welcoming decorating talents and his garden is truly a thing of beauty. He is survived by his loving partner of nearly 22 years David M. LaFramboise, two sisters: Pamela (Doug) Jackson of Westerville, OH, and Deb Bailey of Saline, MI, his nephew, Trent (Tish) Sheats of Sterling Heights MI, niece ReBecca (Randy) Hendricks of Johnstown OH, grandnephew Brady Sheats, and grandnieces Adeline Sheats and Shelbea Hendricks. He is also survived by numerous extended family and friends In keeping with Kenn's wishes, dignified cremation rites have been entrusted to David C. Brown Funeral Home, Belleville, MI A Celebration of His Life will be held on Sunday, May 19 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club at 9961 Beck Road in Belleville from 1:30 until 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St Joseph Mercy Health System Cancer Center or to Arbor Hospice & Home Care.
