Lawlor, Martin "Marty" Amarante 10/17/1964 - 9/17/2021 An unforgettable Father, Son, Brother & Friend Martin "Marty" Amarante Lawlor of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed on Friday, September 17th, surrounded by those whom he loved most. Marty, as he was known by his friends, was born in Torrance, California to Thomas Joseph Lawlor Jr. and Sylvia Herrera Lawlor. He had a childhood filled with rambunctiousness and love with his four siblings, Joe, Veronica, Jenine and Julie. He graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School and Loyola Marymount University with an Accounting degree and spent the bulk of his professional career as a Health Care Administrator. He spent 16 years at UCLA Medical Center, followed by 15 years as the Director of Finance for the University of Michigan Pathology Department. His work was recognized by numerous accolades and national awards. When he wasn't working, Marty dedicated his life to raising his children, attending Michigan sporting events, coaching his children's' baseball, soccer and basketball teams, and enthusiastically rooting for all LA sports teams. He enjoyed traveling with his girlfriend and was always planning their next adventure. Golf was a lifelong passion, as was his commitment to mentoring and helping to improve the lives of others. Marty is survived by his children, Maxwell, Sarah and Brendan Lawlor; his loving partner, Andrea Springsteen; his mother, Sylvia Lawlor; and his siblings; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues, whose lives were richer for having known him. Marty's impact on his family and everyone he met will never be forgotten. We love you forever Marty! A celebration of Marty's life will be held at Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 on Friday, September 24th. Gathering will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a service to be held at 3:00 p.m. An additional celebration will take place in Los Angeles, CA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marty's honor to Holy Cross Services in Michigan online here: https://holycrossservices.org/how-can-you-help/online-donations/ or to St. Joseph Center in Venice, California online here: https://stjosephctr.org/donate/.

Marty was my classmate, roommate and fraternity brother in college. But more than that, he was my friend. He was truly a Falstaffian character, bigger than life. His exploits were legendary and it is no coincidence he was given the moniker, "the mobile party" by his friends. He could take it as well as he could give it, and he could give it as good as anyone I've ever met. I am crestfallen that he's gone. I will miss him.
