She was born the 12th child of 13, to Albert and Bessie (Waldecker) Mundinger in Dearborn, Michigan. As a young girl, the family relocated to the farm in South Lyon, Michigan. She attended South Lyon Schools and graduated valedictorian. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life, Donald. It was love at first sight. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Together they raised five children, Mark (Karen), Lynn, Michael (Paula), Steven, and Diane (Denis). Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and daughter, Lynn. After the children were all in school, Mary Lou began working for Washtenaw County primarily in the offices of Corporation Counsel and Labor Relations. She retired after 27 years of service. After her retirement, Don and Mary Lou were fortunate to have traveled extensively and spent the winters in Clermont, Florida. Mary Lou also used her retirement to strengthen her Catholic faith. She enjoyed worshiping, learning, traveling, volunteering, and socializing with her St. Francis of Assisi Church family under the guidance of her good friend, Fr. James Conlon. Throughout her life, Mary Lou enjoyed reading, running, croquet, card games, shuffleboard, gardening, and movies with popcorn. However, by far, her greatest pleasure came from being Grandma Lou. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Tara, Brandon (Alyssa), Cody (Casey), Steven (Katie Lee), Brian, Mark Cyrus, Chris, and Eric. Mary Lou was truly a special person who touched so many people. Per Mary Lou's wishes, cremation has taken place. Thoughts and prayers going out to the family. Mary Lou is dancing with the angels. I really miss our times together after mass on Saturdays when Mom (Julie), Pat, Mary Lou, and I would go to Steak n Shake for dinner, conversation, and laughter.
